Provided is a colorant compound for phase change ink, which has a desired degree of solubility to a vehicle used in phase change ink, shows a high saturation, desired color tone and high light fastness in phase change ink, and produces a printed matter with a decreased pile height. The colorant compound is a compound represented by a formula 1 or 2, or a mixture thereof. In the formulae 1 and 2, each of R1, R2 and R3 independently represents H or a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, cyclic or acyclic, substituted or non-substituted alkyl group; M is a metal atom; each of A, E and G independently represents a substitute in the phenyl or pyrazolone ring; G is a hydrogen atom; m is an integer of 0.1 or 2; p is an integer of 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4; J is H, alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl or alkylayl group; two or more substitutents in the phenyl or pyrazolone ring are bound to each other to form a ring; and n is an integer of 1, 2 or 3.
