A linear motor and a linear compressor using the same are provided to fix a magnet more quickly and easily than taping a film on outer surface of the magnet for fixation. A linear motor includes a bobbin(2), a coil(10), an outer core(20), an inner core(40), a magnet(50), a first holder(51), and a second holder(52). The coil(10) is wired around the bobbin. The outer core is installed at the bobbin. The inner core moves an object like a piston to reciprocate. The magnet is separated from the outer core with a gap(g1). The first holder wraps an end(53) of the magnet and is installed at the inner core. The first holder attaches the end of the magnet to an outer surface of the inner core. The second holder wraps a rear end(54) of the magnet and is installed at the inner core. The second holder attaches the rear end of the magnet to outer surface of the inner core.
