PURPOSE:To culture anaerobic bacteria, easily, by sealing a disoxidation agent containing a dithionous acid salt, etc. and a medium inoculated with the anaerobic bacteria in a sealable container. CONSTITUTION:A disoxidation agent containing a dithionous acid salt, sodium bicarbonate, sodium carbonate and water preferably at ratios of 100:(10-400): (1-950):(5-40) is sealed together with a medium inoculated with an anaerobic bacterial strain (e.g. Bacteroides fragilis) in a sealable container (e.g. a heat-sealed transparent bag composed of a double-layered film of vinylidene-coated drawn polypropylene and polythylene) to carry out the cultivation of the bacteria. The dithionous acid salt is preferably sodium dithionite (Na2S2O4) or zinc dithionite (ZnS2O4). An anaerobic atmosphere containing carbon dioxide gas necessary for the cultivation of anaerobic bacteria can be produced by this method. |
