An air guide type device for detecting surface flaws of a wire rod is provided to reduce vibration of the wire rod when vibration occurs by guiding the wire rod moving along one direction to the center of an internal path. An air guide type device for detecting surface flaws of a wire rod(W) includes an entry guider(100a) with a penetrated internal path of larger internal diameter than an exterior diameter of the wire rod at the entry of a sensor(100e). An exit guider(100b) includes the penetrated internal path of larger internal diameter than the exterior diameter of the wire rod at the exit of the sensor. An air supplier(100c) supplies air to the internal path of the entry and exit guider to form a spiral air flow faster than the moving speed of the wire rod between an exterior surface of the wire rod and an internal surface of the internal path of the entry and exit guider. A cooling water supplier(100d) supplies cooling water between a sensor cavity(172) of the sensor and the wire rod to cool the sensor cavity from outside.
