A handoff control method in a mobile communication system is provided to make a mobile terminal perform a call after being allocated an HR(Half Rate) channel from a neighboring base station, thus sound disconnection caused when a mobile communication terminal moves between base stations in busy state can be prevented. A mobile communication terminal makes a call by using a speech channel allocated by the first base station(S210). It is decided whether handoff is necessary(S215). If so, the mobile communication terminal makes the call by overlappingly using the first and second multi-call channels individually allocated by the first and second base stations(S225,S230). If the terminal moves to a cell region of the second base station, the first multi-call channel is blocked while the call is conducted through the second multi-call channel only(S235,S240).
