A thermostat for a vehicular engine is provided to prevent introduction of foreign substances by closing the upper end of a guide cover, thereby preventing a valve stick of the thermostat. A thermostat for a vehicular engine(10) includes an upper support(1) and a lower support fixed to a lower portion of the upper support. A pallet(7) is provided on the inner side of the lower support and a guide cover is integrally installed at an upper portion of the pallet. The upper end of a piston is connected to the upper support and the piston is slidably installed on the inner side of the guide cover. A main valve is fixed to the guide cover. A bypass valve(5) is fixed to the lower end of the pallet through a lower guider. A main spring is interposed between the main valve(3) and the lower support. A bypass spring is interposed between the bypass valve and the lower support. A foreign substance interruption unit is provided between the upper end of the upper support and the main valve.
