An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to increase the response speed of liquid crystal, thereby realizing a moving image, by forming a tilting member on an upper substrate so as to give a tilt to liquid crystal molecules. A common electrode(270) is formed above a substrate(210). A pixel electrode(191) is disposed to face the common electrode. A liquid crystal layer is positioned between the common electrode and the pixel electrode. A tilting member(330a) is formed above the substrate, wherein the tilting member has a ridge line and an inclination surface. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal molecules, monomers, and polymers. The monomers of the liquid crystal layer are positioned in the vicinity of the ridge line of the tilting member.
