DYNAMIC BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION APPARATUS AND METHOD

An apparatus for allocating a bandwidth and a method thereof are provided to guarantee system performance and communication QoS requested by a user by using a scheme of adaptively allocating the bandwidth, adjusting the bandwidth and controlling the bandwidth. An apparatus for allocating a bandwidth comprises a call recognition control module(100), a packet classifying module(130), a buffer module(120), a packet scheduler module(140) and a bandwidth allocation module(110). The call recognition control module request allocation of the bandwidth in case that receipt of a call signal at a terminal is accepted. The packet classifying module classifies received packets according to one and more among an IP address, a port and a used upper level protocol and transmits the classified packets to the buffer module. The buffer module receives the classified packets from the packet classifying module and stores them. The packet scheduler module receives the classified packets from the buffer module and transmits the packets to a terminal via a wireless resource link. The bandwidth allocation module forms the buffer module for allocation of the bandwidth and processes a traffic service by linking with the packet scheduler module in case of receiving the allocation of the bandwidth from the call recognition control module.
