A terminal device communicating with contactless type IC media and a communication method thereof are provided to surely perform a data process in the contactless type IC media by adjusting coverage. A transmitter(203) transmits an inquiry request command to the contactless type IC media(110). A receiver(204) receives an inquiry request response for the transmitted inquiry request command from the contactless type IC media. The transmitter transmits a data processing command to the contactless type IC media. The receiver receives a data processing response for the transmitted data processing command from the contactless type IC media. A controller increases the coverage for receiving the data processing response longer than the coverage for receiving the inquiry request response. The controller increases the coverage by adjusting receiving sensitivity of the receiver until reception of the data processing response.
