A dishwasher and a control method thereof are provided to check the operation state of the dishwasher even in space separated from the dishwasher by real-time detecting and displaying temperature of a tub, to restrict a door from opening by indicating high temperature of the tub during the high temperature washing course, and to prevent a burn due to high temperature wet steam by displaying a warning message. A dishwasher includes a tub having a washing tub, an internal temperature detection unit(210) measuring internal temperature of the tub, a control unit(200) reading temperature of the tub measured by the internal temperature detection unit, and a display unit(115) displaying a message according to control signals from the control unit. Temperature of the tub is measured by the internal temperature detection unit, and is indicated on the display unit. The control unit displays the warning message on the display unit if the internal temperature of the tub reaches the predetermined temperature.
