<p>A mobile communication terminal and a method for releasing an RRC(Radio Resource Control) connection at selection of a cell by using the same are provided to enable a user to rapidly receive other service by switching to a standby state at a high speed. A mobile communication terminal comprises a transceiver(310), a controller(350) and a counter(360). The transceiver(310) transmits an RRC connection release message or a cell update message. The controller transmits the cell update message in case that reselection of the cell is necessary while the RRC connection release message is being transmitted, and controls switching to a standby state after releasing the RRC connection. The counter counts the number of transmissions of the cell update message. The controller sets the number of transmissions of the cell update message under 8.</p> |
