PURPOSE:To increase driving torque and to attain a favorable accelerating condition by using the target rotating speed for transition time different from that for the steady time when acceleration is not sufficient, and the value of parameter related to a driver's demand for acceleration is larger than a reference value. CONSTITUTION:During operation of an engine, in CPU not shown, a value of parameter related to a driver's demand for acceleration is detected, for example, a throttle opening theta is detected by a throttle opening sensor 52. A reference value theta0 for the throttle opening theta is set as a function of a car velocity.
