A multiple thermal switches (17) with closed contacts are connected in series with a green lamp (15) to form a two terminal circuit (21,23). A multiple expansion thermal switches (18) with open contacts are connected in parallel and red lamp (16) is connected in series with the switches to form another two terminal circuit (22,24). The circuits are arranged for connection to the terminal of an electric power supply (12). The thermal switches form several cells (19) combining the detectors having respective contact-opening and contact-closing temperatures. An independent claim is included for system for detecting fire on board an aircraft.
