The method involves providing an airplane with a transmitting unit transmitting speed, position and flight plan of the airplane, where the flight plan comprises altitude, speed and time predictions for a next way point (WPT). Another airplane is provided with a receiving unit for receiving information transmitted by the former airplane. A future flight plan is determined by the latter airplane according to the information received from the former airplane for maintaining constant separation between the airplanes.
