<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device having a uniform luminance distribution, and a liquid crystal display device with the surface light source device. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device includes a cold cathode tube 31, a light guide body 33 with a main part 330 having a light entering surface 33A facing the cold cathode tube 31 and a side 33B extending perpendicularly to the cold cathode tube 31, and a projection 332 projecting from the side 33B, and a frame 32 supporting the light guide 33. The projecting part 332 has a first end face 332A crossing the side 33B on the opposite side of the cold cathode tube 31, and a second end face 332B crossing the first end face 332A at a first crossing part CP1, and has a shape formed so as to return light entering the projection 332 through the main part 330 from the cold cathode tube 31 to the main part 330 by reflecting it by either one of the first end face 332A or the second end face 332B, and the angle made by the first end face 332A and the second end face 332B crossing each other at the first crossing part CP1 is an obtuse angle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
