PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footstep device for a man conveyor reducing the possibility that passengers' feet, shoes or the like are drawn into spaces between footsteps and footstep guard members, having a simple structure and easily manufactured. SOLUTION: This footstep device for the man conveyor is constituted such that a predetermined number of footsteps 1 connected with each other endlessly travel inside the footstep guard members 2 arranged in both sides in the advancing direction. Notch step parts 12 are provided at both end sides in the advancing direction of footboards 11 constituting the footsteps. The notch step parts 12 store elastic members 3 provided so as to receive load from the upper direction and deformed so as to be expanded outwardly by the load, and sliding bodies 4 which are arranged such that their inner sides adhere to the elastic members 3 and their outer sides oppose to the footstep guard members 2, are provided rotatably so as to be pressed by the elastic members 3 and abut on the footstep guard members 2 when the elastic members 3 are deformed outwardly, and comprise hard materials.
