A video portal delivers video services as disclosed herein by identifying a media stream having a plurality of segments, in which each of the segments is defined by an ordered sequence of frames, and receiving a request to direct the identified media stream to a requesting user, such that the request is received during a current segment in the stream. The video portal operable according to configurations discussed herein redirects the media stream to the user in a realtime manner by immediately sending a decoded, computed current frame to the user in a seamless manner for rendering on a user display device, the seamless manner operable to preserve synchronization of the display image with the computed current frame, providing frames remaining in the current segment, and concatenating the provided frames with a successive next segment of the media stream.
