The invention relates to N-[2-hydroxy-3-(1-piperidinyl)propoxy]pyridine-1-oxide-3-carboximidoyl chloride, its stereoisomers and the acid addition salts thereof, pharmaceutical compositions containingthe same, the use thereof in the treatment of pathological insulin resistance and pathological conditions associated with such resistance. The invention relates also to the treatment of pathologicalinsulin resistance and pathological conditions associated with such resistance in the simultaneous treatment and prevention of diabetes-induced chronic complications, particularly retinopathy, neuropathy and nephropathy, and/or in the simultaneous acceleration of pathologically decreased peripheral neuroregeneration caused by diabetes.
