PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stretched film having transparency and excellent in gas barrier properties of oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc. especially under a high humidity condition. SOLUTION: The stretched film constituted by forming a layer (Y), which contains a polymer (a) of an unsaturated carboxylic acid compound multivalent metal salt, wherein the ratio (A<SB>0</SB>/A) of the absorbance A<SB>0</SB>based onνC=O of a carboxylic acid group in the vicinity of 1,700 cm<SP>-1</SP>in an infrared absorption spectrum and the absorbance A based onνC=O of carboxylate ions in the vicinity of 1,520 cm<SP>-1</SP>is 0.25 or below, at least on one side of a base material layer (X) and at least one side of the base material layer are coated with a solution of an unsaturated carboxylic acid compound multivalent metal salt of which the degree of polymerization is below 20. Thereafter, the unsaturated carboxylic acid compound multivalent metal salt is polymerized to form the layer (Y) containing the polymer (a) of the unsaturated carboxylic acid compound multivalent metal salt.
