PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple-structured backrest capable of making a user comfortable. SOLUTION: The chair has the backrest with a backrest surface S on which an elastic cloth 121 is stretched between upper and lower ends of a backrest frame 11. The chair also has a backup material 122 at edges of the cloth 121 for keeping the cloth 121 in the stretched state. The upper end of the backup material 122 is supported to the upper end of the backrest frame 11, and the lower end of the backup material 122 is supported to the lower end of the backrest frame 11.
