PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new evaluation method for detecting endoplasmic reticulum stress. SOLUTION: The method for detecting a change of a spliced XBP1 gene expressed in an animal tissue or cell in vitro comprises receiving a frame switch type splicing dependent on endoplasmic reticulum stress. Especially, the method, wherein a combination of an oligonucleotide primer comprising a nucleotide sequence corresponding to an arbitrary nucleotide sequence on the 5'-upstream of an intron sequence receiving the frame switch type splicing of XBP1 mRNA sequence with an oligonucleotide primer comprising a nucleotide sequence corresponding to an arbitrary nucleotide sequence on the 3'-downstream of the intron sequence is used as a combination of oligonucleotide primers for detecting XBP1 gene by RT-PCR.
