PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety confirmation system whereby the presence of residents is grasped and safety information can quickly be grasped on the occurrence of a disaster such as earthquake and tidal wave. SOLUTION: A center apparatus 4 acquires disaster information caused in its installation area and transmits a reply request signal to an HGW 3 installed in the same area. On receipt of the reply request signal, the HGW 3 uses a human sensor 25 to sense the presence of residents in a house 2, detects a change in a state of apparatuses 21 to 24 and transmits a human body presence signal to a center apparatus 5 installed in an area different from the area of the center apparatus 4.
