PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head assembly which can improve linearity of an output waveform of an MR readout head element without complicating a structure of a thin film magnetic head and a manufacturing method of the magnetic head assembly. SOLUTION: The magnetic head assembly is provided with: a magnetic head slider comprising an element forming surface in which at least an MR readout magnetic head element is formed, a floating surface (ABS) facing a magnetic recording medium and a fixing surface which is a surface of opposite side to an ABS; and a support mechanism which carries out fixing support of the magnetic head slider. The magnetic head slider and the support mechanism are fixed by using at least a resin material layer which is contractile at curing time and comprising at least one beltlike pattern which runs on the fixing surface in the track width direction.
