PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a classification program and a classification method of image data, in which a large number of image data can be classified to appropriate categories. SOLUTION: A computer is made to function as a category classification means 14 for temporarily classifying a plurality of image data into a plurality of categories using a predetermined method using image information or auxiliary information of image data and a category decision means 15 fixing, when predetermined image data is selected from image data displayed in a category base, the classification destination of the selected image data to a category displaying this image data. In the category classification means 14, categories of image data not selected are changed according to a predetermined rule or at random. According to this, even if the temporary classification of categories is inaccurate, a large number of image data can be classified to appropriate categories only by repeating the processing of selecting image data.
