The system has a three phase machine (4) that is connected with a supply network (24) on a stator side a supply network (24) on a stator side using an elevator converter (2). The three phase machine is connected with a traction sheave (6) on a rotor side. Power semiconductor circuits from silicon carbide are provided as converter valves (T1 - T6) of a load-sided converter of the elevator converter, where a Schkottky-diode is provided as power semiconductor circuits. The elevator converter is attached at a high protection system, and throttles are integrated into the load-sided converter.
