PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master recording medium for magnetic transfer capable of removing a sub pulse generated when magnetic transfer is performed and coping with high density recording, to provide a magnetic transfer method using the master recording medium for magnetic transfer and to provide a magnetic recording medium with magnetic information recorded by the magnetic transfer method. SOLUTION: A large number of fine rugged magnetic layer patterns are formed on the surface of the disk-shaped magnetic recording medium. The thickness t1 of the magnetic layer pattern on the innermost peripheral side is smaller than the thickness t2 of the magnetic layer pattern on the outermost peripheral side.
