A system and method for evaluating and tracking a frequency offset for a transmission system whose bandwidth is not insignificant with respect to a central frequency, wherein the system transmits waveforms containing fixed carriers whose level is substantially greater than the level of information transmitting carriers, whose frequencies ranges from F0 to FN-1 and a useful information carrier signal comprises at least the following elements: N band-pass filter banks (100) each of which comprises P filters used for covering the totality of values which can be taken by the F0 to FN-1 frequencies upon a Doppler offset, a filter output is connected to a quadratic envelop sensor, P adders (200) for summing up the corresponding outputs of the N filter banks, a system (300) for detecting the position of two largest maximas amongst the P sums and for validating the position of the largest maxima, a system (400) for recording the positions of two largest maximas and the weight thereof and for predicting an actual value, a system (500) for validating/replacing the found position and a system (600) for converting the positions into evaluated Doppler and filtering it by a low-pass filter. |
