METHOD FOR PRODUCING COAL ASH SINTERED COMPACT FROM COAL ASH POWDER AS RAW MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of efficiently producing a coal ash sintered compact of excellent compactedness.

SOLUTION: A coal ash powder is subjected to pulsed electric-current sintering at 700°C or higher under pressure. Desirably, the coal ash powder is fly ash. It is possible to produce a coal ash sintered compact having a more compact structure by heat-treating the coal ash powder at 950°C or higher prior to the electric-current sintering to burn unburnt carbon and subjecting the heat-treated coal ash powder to pulsed electric-current sintering at 830°C or higher. The sintered powder is cooled at a cooling rate in the range from 0.1°C/sec to 50°C/sec.
