<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic motor which can realize high torque. <P>SOLUTION: When two out of a first terminal 31t, a second terminal 32t and a third terminal 33t of an oscillator 3 are selected and AC voltages having a phase shift of 90° are applied from these two terminals, vibration is generated in a stator 2 and elliptic vibration is generated at the level difference 9 of a stator 2 touching the rotor 6. A preload acts on the rotor 6 by the biasing force of a leaf spring 10 via the corner 12 of a preload member 11, and since the rotor 6 is pressed against the level difference 9 of a stator 2, torque is transmitted to the rotor 6 by frictional force between the rotor 6 and the level difference 9. Since the preload member 11 vibrates in a vibration mode that is different from that of the stator 2, frictional loss caused by contact between the corner 12 of the preload member 11 and the surface of the rotor 6 is reduced significantly. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
