<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus preventing a non-genuine developing material such as toner from being reused so as to prevent occurrence of image deterioration caused by recycling of a non-genuine developing material. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier 101 on the surface of which an electrostatic latent image is formed; a developing device 5 that develops the electrostatic latent image on the image carrier into a developed image with a developing material; a cleaning means 4 for removing the developing material remaining on and sticking to the surface of the image carrier or an intermediate transfer body after the developed image is transferred to a recording medium or the intermediate transfer body; a developing material determining means 15 for determining whether the developing material is a genuine product or not; and a control means 15 for controlling the composing elements of the apparatus so that when the determination is made that the developing material is the genuine product, the developing material removed by the cleaning means 4 is recovered by recycling recovery devices 5, 303 and 318, and when the determination is made that the developing material is not the genuine product, it is not recovered. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
