<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-car elevator having a large number of cars in a small space and capable of smoothly transporting users. <P>SOLUTION: This multi-car elevator is provided with the plurality of cars 1; a hoistway 5 having a lifting/lowering portion 6 for moving the cars 1 vertically and landing portions 7 arranged horizontally with respect to the lifting/lowering portion 6; a lifting/lowering guide rail 9 which has a plurality of fixed rails 9b arranged in the lifting/lowering portion 6 and a plurality of horizontally-rotatable rotating rails 9a arranged in positions corresponding to the respective landing portions 7 and guides the cars 1; and landing guide rails 11 horizontally arranged in the respective landing portions 7 and guiding the cars 1 in the horizontal direction.
