<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a coherer in the prior art that the same coherer cannot be used easily to discharge high power surge current which is generated when the lightning or high-power electrical path switching occurs, and initial insulation property is high but the coherer itself is burned easily, and on the other hand difficulty in decohering tends to be generated. <P>SOLUTION: The coherer of the prior art allowing a metal powder including an oxide film to be provided between electrodes cannot be expected to attain stable coherer characteristic (short-circuit and opening) for a higher surge electrical power. However, as a result of a variety of searches, it has become possible to provide a coherer type surge absorber corresponding to a self-decohering type high power surge, by utilizing a material having semiconductor characteristic in the expected characteristics. Moreover, since it is possible to change the coherer characteristic (particularly, the initial characteristic) in a wider range by changing a pressure density, it is now possible to provide a multiple variable coherer type surge absorber for various applications utilizing a pressure density as a variable in addition to various conditions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
