PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a yeast strain improved in organic acid productivity, and to provide a method for producing an organic acid using the same. SOLUTION: The yeast strain is such as to be integrated with a gene encoding an organic acid synthase which holds a chromosome DNA with such a mutation that part of a DNA encoding PDR13 is deleted, substituted or inserted, etc. The method for producing the organic acid comprises culturing the above yeast strain in the presence of a carbohydrate to accumulate the resultant organic acid in a cultured product, from which the aimed organic acid is retrieved.
