A hydrogen fermentor by which an organic material is decomposed via hydrogen fermentation to thereby generate hydrogen, characterized by comprising a hydrogen fermentation tank in which a liquid containing the organic material to be treated is stored and a string-shaped support which is located so that it is dipped in the solution to be treated in the hydrogen fermentation tank and carries a hydrogen-producing bacterium fixed thereto.
