PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel, capable of achieving incompatible purposes of achieving light weight and compactness of the device, and achieving high rigidity, while improving strength and durability. SOLUTION: In this bearing device for a wheel, hub bolts 6a are provided in the circumferential direction at a constant interval on a wheel installation flange 6 of a hub wheel 4. The pitch circle diameter of a rolling element 3a on the outer side is set to be larger than that on the inner side, and the rolling elements 3a and 3b in a plurality of roles have the same outer diameter. The number of the rolling elements 3a on the outer side is larger than that on the inner side, and a rib 17 that is thick is provided on a side surface of the wheel installation flange 6 on the inner side. The rib 17 is composed of a straight part 17a which is radially extended from a base part 6c of the wheel installation flange 6, and a forward end round part 17b. The forward end round part 17b is centered to an axial center O of the hub bolt 6a, and its outer circumference is set to have a prescribed radius of curvature r to roughly coincide with the outer circumference of the wheel installation flange 6.
