PURPOSE:To automatically adjust an area where an exhaust gas passes to set the flow speed of the gas to a substantially predetermined value thereby to positively prevent a whistling phenomenon and a down washing phenomenon from occurring by suspending a cone end of which is formed in a sectional rhombic shape by means of a spring fixedly mounted on a smoothing plate and the large-diameter portion of which is larger than the diameter of the smoothing plate disposed at the innermost part, between the smoothing plate and the stack top part. CONSTITUTION:A cone 6 which has kept balance because there is no exhaust gas and a downward force is substantially zero is pushed upward by the pressure of the passing exhaust gas, and the spring 7 contracts and the cone 6 keeps balance with the pressure of the exhaust gas in a floating state. The exhaust gas passes through a cylindrical portion formed by a straight nozzle 3 and a second smoothing plate 5, and then is smoothed and discharged. At this time, the area where the exhaust gas passes assumes an opening area a4. This is because the cone 6 moves up and down depending on the amount of the exhaust gas. That is, when the amount of the exhaust gas is large, the cone 6 is pushed up to increase the opening area a4, whereas, when the amount of the exhaust gas is small, the cone 6 falls to decrease the opening area a4. Therefore, the flow speed at which the exhaust gas passes the cone 6 becomes substantially constant.
