System for extruding a porous substrate

A porous ceramic substrate having porosity of 60 - 85% comprises structure formed of bonded ceramic fibers and is produced by an extrusion process involving mixing ceramic fibers with additives and a fluid to form an extrudable mixture; extruding the mixture into a green substrate; and curing the green substrate into the porous substrate. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an extruded porous honeycomb substrate; (2) a filter product; and (3) a catalytic converter product.
