PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing system, a storage device, and a management unit with high use efficiency of memory capacity and with high reliability. SOLUTION: In the data processing system having the storage device and its management unit, the management unit is provided with a right of access setting request part which transmits to the storage device a setting requirement of the right of the access to a designated logical volume responding to prescribed external input, and the storage device is provided with a control part which dynamically expands the capacity of the logical volume by dynamically assigning a storage domain in each segment of prescribed size to the logical volume of a first assortment as occasion demands based on access requirement from the upper units, and a right of access setting part which sets the designated right of access in a segment unit to the logical volume responding to the setting requirement of the right of access from the management unit to the logical volume of the first assortment.
