PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium feeder capable of eliminating any friction resistance between both ends of a medium to be fed and each guide means when feeding the medium. SOLUTION: The medium feeder comprises a first moving means 20 for moving a first guide means 11 interlockingly with the rocking of a rocking means 81 so as to be brought into contact/separated with/from one end of the medium, and a second moving means 30 for moving a second guide means 12 interlockingly with the movement of the first guide means so as to be brought into contact/separated with/from the other end of the medium. Both ends and each guide means are brought into contact with each other, for example, in a non-feed mode or in the initial feed mode of the medium, while each guide means can be separated from both ends in the ending feed mode of the medium.
