PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sufficient means for safety against adverse effects of ultraviolet rays on a human body when a toilet seat or toilet cover is sterilized with ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: The optical antibacterial toilet device has a photocatalyst member including a visible-light responsive photocatalyst 110 excited by visible light, disposed on the seated surface, etc. of the toilet seat 150 or toilet cover; and a light emitting diode LED 310 which emits visible light including blue light is built in the toilet seat or toilet cover. The visible-light responsive photocatalyst 110 is irradiated with the visible light from the LED 310. At the time, the photocatalyst 110 exhibits the photocatalytic activity, and the seated surface of the toilet seat or toilet cover is sterilized and is made optically antibacterial by the photolytic reaction. Since the toilet seat is sterilized with the visible light LED 310 and the visible-light responsive photocatalyst 110 without using ultraviolet rays, a measure for safety is not required, and as the LED 310 is built in the toilet seat 150 or toilet cover, the body of the device is compact.
