PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chelate adsorbent material which can adsorb in an acid range, and to provide an adsorbent material which can adsorb more easily in a neutral range as is heretofore difficult, with high speed and high adsorption capacity. SOLUTION: The bifunctional adsorbent material is to irradiate radiation to a polymeric substrate and then introduce a phosphonic acid group and sulfonic group which are suitable for metal adsorption into the substrate.
