PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission fluid having a comparatively low viscosity, a transmission including the fluid, and a driving method of a car by using the fluid. SOLUTION: The transmission fluid contains a lubricating base stock, at least one active sulfur-containing component, and at least one phosphorus-containing component. The content of the active sulfur atom in the composition is about 0.02 wt.% or more, and the ratio of the active sulfur atom to the phosphorus atom in the composition is about 5 or more.
