PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating asbestos capable of preventing asbestos from splashing in the air and conveniently treating a removed asbestos-containing substance, when the asbestos-containing substance is removed from the surface of a base body. SOLUTION: The method for treating the asbestos that removes the asbestos-containing substance from the surface of the base body after an anti-splashing liquid is beforehand coated on the asbestos-containing substance, having (a) a spraying step that entraps the asbestos-containing substance in the anti-splashing liquid by spraying the anti-splashing liquid onto the asbestos-containing substance from a low pressure-spraying nozzle, (b) an exfoliating step that exfoliates the asbestos-containing substance from the surface of the base body by jetting a high-pressure water to the asbestos-containing substance in which the anti-splashing liquid is impregnated, and (c) a coagulating step that sprays a coagulant over the exfoliated asbestos-containing substance to make it a gel.
