PURPOSE:To reduce current consumption without lowering function by cutting off supply of driving power to one of a recording medium driving motor and a head driving motor when driving power source is being supplied to another. CONSTITUTION:When a command signal to reproduce information recorded in a specified track of a floppy disk is outputted from an external equipment to a CPU 20, the CPU 20 keeps a transistor 15 off state to stop supply of current to a DC motor 12, and at the same time, outputs a control signal to a step motor driving circuit 18 to seek a recording and reproducing magnetic head 22 to an objective track position and drives a step motor 19. After seeking the recording and reproducing magnetic head 22 to the objective position, the CPU 20 stops outputting of the control signal to the step motor driving circuit 18 and stops the step motor 19, and at the same time, outputs a control signal to the transistor 15 and the transistor 15 is turned on to drive a DC motor 12.
