The indicator has a substrate (3) containing a display surface (1), and a scale arranged on the surface. The scale has a scale reference point and scaling points spaced from the reference point. An accentuation unit visually accentuates discrete points of the surface to provide an indication which can be displaced with respect to the reference point in a displacement coordinate of the surface and with respect to the scale in another coordinate of the surface. A control controls the accentuation unit to shift the display depending on a value of a variable.
