An artificial joint component (10) with a first joint surface (58) designed to fit and slide on a corresponding surface of a second artificial or natural joint component in a human or animal body when the two parts move relative to one another, and comprising a sliding layer (40) mounted on a support (28), in which layer (40) is made of a material which is more elastic than that of the support (28). Independent claims are included for (1) a set of joint components (10) for replacing damaged joints or for a two-component implant comprising (10) and a second joint component, in which the set comprises several first and/or second joint components of various shapes and sizes as described above (2) an implant with two joint components as above.
