The device has an axially movable and radially rotatable shifting shaft (2), and a shifting finger (3) connected with the shifting shaft. A switching finger head (8) is movable in two different directions, when the shifting shaft moves in the respective directions. The shifting finger head is in contact with grooves of shifting arms. An inverter (11) is provided for moving the shifting finger head in one direction, during the movement of the shaft in another direction.
