A method for collecting information in a portable terminal is provided to collect the use information of a portable phone regarding a WIPI application executed based on a wireless Internet Platform Interoperability(WIPI) platform. If a short message service(SMS) push message is received from a Communication Intelligence(CI) server, the request for service commencement is transmitted to the WIPI according to information registered in a Handset Adaptation Layer(S303). The WIPI having received the request performs a Communication Intelligence Service Management(CIM) application according to information registered in the WIPI. The CIM obtains information about use pattern of the first client, which is requested by the push message, by making communication with a CIA executed under the CIM. The CIM obtains information about use pattern of the second client requested by the SMS message by making communication with the headset software. The CIM provides the collected information to the CI server(S309). The information about the use pattern of the first client includes at least one of an execution number for a specific menu, the total operation time of the CIA, the number of installed CIAs, ID information, the most frequently used words in communication or a searching operation, and a CIA operation time interval.
