摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric propulsion device for a vessel at low cost with little loss of a propeller and a generator, enhanced in the propelling efficiency. SOLUTION: The electric propulsion device for the vessel is equipped with a propulsive force adjusting means, a pitch controller to adjust the pitch of a variable pitch propeller which gives a propelling torque to the vessel, a pitch signal output device receiving a propulsive force command and outputting a pitch signal to the pitch controller, a first motor giving a rotary torque to the variable pitch propeller, a converter/inverter converting into an AC power having the rated frequency and supplying to the intra-vessel load, and a speed command generator receiving the pitch signal and the output frequency of the first generator and outputting a primer mover speed command to a governor. The output frequency of the first generator is set to the rated frequency, when the pitch signal is equal to or over the prescribed value decided by the propelling efficiency characteristic of the propeller, and the output frequency of the first generator is lowered below the rated frequency when the pitch signal is smaller than the prescribed value, so that the inexpensive electric propulsion device can be provided with an enhanced propelling efficiency.
