PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine where guiding of a thread is simplified and a thread delivery amount is adjusted. SOLUTION: A pulse motor 34 is provided as a drive source for driving a delivery lever 32. Then, via the pulse motor 34 and a cam 35 connected with the pulse motor 34, the delivery lever 32 is driven. Thus, according to the proper delivery amount of each stitch which is calculated on the basis of the thickness of a cloth which is detected by a potentiometer 20, a proper quantity of a needle thread can be delivered. Thus, a proper length of the needle thread can be delivered without requiring a monitoring device such as an encoder, so that mounting work of the needle thread to an automatic thread tension device 100 of the sewing machine is simplified to improve working efficiency.
